Why It Matters
The GAF Difference
Most roofer warranties are only as good as the company behind them. GAF changes that equation entirely.
Manufacturer-Backed
Golden Pledge is backed by GAF — not Alamo. If we ever close, your warranty lives on with North America’s largest roofing manufacturer.
Factory Inspected
A GAF factory inspector visits your property and performs a 40-point quality check. Your roof passes manufacturer standards — not just ours.
Non-Prorated for Life
No declining coverage over time. Year 1 and year 49 have the same protection. GAF pays the full cost of defective materials for the entire period.

Common Questions
Warranty FAQ
Everything homeowners ask about GAF warranties.
What does non-prorated mean?
Non-prorated means GAF pays the full cost of defective materials for the entire warranty period. With prorated warranties, coverage decreases each year so you pay more over time. Golden Pledge is non-prorated for the full 50 years.
Is the GAF warranty transferable?
Yes. Golden Pledge and Silver Pledge warranties are transferable to a new homeowner if you sell. This adds real resale value — buyers know they’re getting a manufacturer-backed warranty, not just a contractor promise.
What’s covered under workmanship?
Workmanship coverage pays to fix problems caused by installation errors — leaks, lifted shingles, improper flashing. With Golden Pledge, GAF covers workmanship for 25 years. Even if Alamo closed, your coverage continues through GAF.
What happens if Alamo closes?
Your warranty survives. Golden Pledge and Silver Pledge are backed directly by GAF, not by Alamo. GAF will honor the warranty regardless of our business status. This is the key difference from a standard contractor warranty.
How do I file a warranty claim?
Call Alamo first — we handle most issues directly. For material defects, contact GAF at 1-866-423-7663 or file online at gaf.com. GAF manages the claim and coordinates repairs through a certified installer.
What voids a GAF warranty?
Improper ventilation, unauthorized modifications, power-washing shingles, installing satellite dishes through the shingles, or having unlicensed work done on the roof. We review all of this during installation to protect your coverage.
